Jewelers use Medium Pickler. Pickling is the process of removing the fire scale and oxides from the surface of metals caused by annealing, soldering, brazing or casting. This is done by immersing the object in an acid solution. While sulfuric acid is sometimes used, pickling compound is safer and will not cause burns to skin or clothes.
